Hi, my name is Grace and I'm a cheerleader at Storm Athletics. This is my third season cheering.

I have been selected to compete at the NCA National Championships in Houston, Texas, from 17 to 22 March 2027. It's one of the biggest cheerleading competitions in the world — thousands of teams travel from all over to be there — and I still can't quite believe we're going.

I'm a base on my team. That means I'm one of the people who lift the flyer into the air, hold her there, and catch her on the way down. It takes a lot of strength and a lot of trust, and I've been training hard for it.

Our routine this year is themed around Matilda, which I'm really looking forward to.

Getting to Houston isn't cheap. Mum and Dad are covering most of the trip, but I wanted to raise some of it myself rather than just being given it. I'm doing a bake sale, a car wash and a 5 km run, and I'm hoping to raise £300 towards my travel costs.
